Slot-Die Coating
Slot-die coating is an easily scalable technology used in applications where liquid materials need to be deposited quickly, with high precision, thinness, and uniformity, while minimizing material loss and keeping operating costs low. Typical substrate materials include glass, metal, and polymers, which can be either rigid or flexible (films). The deposition process is based on precise dosing of the process liquid (controlled coating rate) while the coating head is moved relative to the substrate.
A particular advantage arises when slot-die coating is carried out inside an MBRAUN glovebox: the protected working environment prevents sensitive materials from coming into contact with oxygen and moisture. The glovebox is typically operated with nitrogen or argon, providing a controlled, stable, and safe atmosphere. This significantly enhances material performance, lifetime, and overall process quality.
